Have you been Spring cleaning? If you haven’t don’t worry because I am just getting started! Better later then never, right?? So I thought I would work on it room by room.
Since we are a family of six, our home gets messy very easily. So it gets pretty chaotic. That’s why we will be tackling it room by room. I am praying that going this route will help make things feel a little less stressful, which is always nice.
Because even though I try to keep it up as much as possible, with four children under 10yrs. old. it is just never ending. There is always something to clean or put away. Oh, well I just have to go with the flow because, before I know it, my kiddos will be all grown up and then I will miss all of the chaos and craziness! Of course don’t get me wrong, sometimes I am super overwhelmed with the cleaning at times and I just have to pretend it’s not there!
But now that Spring has come and gone and summer is here I just felt it was time for me to get on the ball. So we will only have to maintain it. Ive had a lot going on and have seriously let it get out of control and I just want to get it done. I will definitely be speeding it up, with the help of my crew of course! They have to do their part to take care of this craziness too!
Ok let’s get down to business. This is my game plan. We will be working on the bedrooms one at a time. I have 3 bedrooms to work on so it shouldn’t be too bad. I just want to be able to finish what I start. Which, is really hard for me, because I tend to start things and not finish them. I get distracted with life easily. So I need to focus as we plow through this.
So when I start the bedrooms, I will put away any clothing or items that need to be put away, and pick up everything off of the floor. Then I’m going to gather some trash bags and a box for donations to get rid of things as I go.
Next, I will print out the lists for each of the bedrooms and go through each room writing down what needs to be done. So I can keep on track and make sure I cover all my bases. Then I will put each list on a clip board and keep it in each of the rooms, so I can check it off as I go, and see the progress I’m making.
Here is the bedroom checklist that I came up with:
- wash Curtains/window coverings
- wash Bed linens/pillows/throw rugs
- wash windows inside + out side
- remove cobwebs
- clean/wipe ceiling fans/light fixtures/lamps
- clean/wipe vents
- wipe door frames/doors/knobs
- vacuum underneath/behind furniture
- vacuum inside closet
- vacuum/wipe baseboards
- dust/rearrange furniture
- de-clutter/donate items no longer needed or that no longer fit
- put any clothes or items away in their places
- rotate/flip mattress
- clean mirrors/dust wall decor
- vacuum/wash floor
My hubby and kiddos will be helping me through the process which will make it easier for everyone!! AS they say, “more hands means less work.” My kiddos can check off the lists as we go also, since they will have a list in their rooms too!
Then I will continue to do the same with the rest of the house. I made a printable of this checklist and more for the other rooms in the home with plenty of room to add notes to accommodate your homes needs.
